CDI Wins “Audience Choice Award” at STRUT 2014

On Friday, September 17th, CDI had the opportunity to participate in the 4th annual ASID/IIDA STRUT runway event held at the historic Turner Hall Ballroom in downtown Milwaukee.  We are beyond ecstatic to announce that CDI took home the coveted, Audience Choice Award!  Seventeen teams made up of interior designers and industry collaborators were able to showcase original fashion designs created from various architectural elements ranging from wallcovering to flooring.  CDI’s team consisted of designers, Kelly Hamilton, Jaime Roeglin, and Amy McGuine, and industry collaborator, Susie Schomann from Knoll Textiles.  This year’s theme, “Decades in Black and White” gave the team the idea to create a seductive dress inspired by the 1950’s cinematic era, Film Noir, which romanticized American crime and corruption.  Through the use of rich, dark upholstery, wallcovering, and sheer drapery from Knoll Textiles, CDI was able to create a knockout dress that took home one of the top honors of the night.

Design teams from throughout Wisconsin are paired with manufacturer’s representatives from the interior design and architecture field to collaborate in creating unique, product-inspired couture. The annual STRUT event showcases fashion designs on the runway to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of WI.
