The annual Healthcare Design (HCD) Expo + Conference is known as the industry’s premier design show, highlighting best practices and top healthcare products across the country. More than 3,600 industry professionals and 250 exhibitors gathered at the Phoenix Convention Center Expo Hall in Arizona from November 10-13 this year, taking the opportunity to earn continuing education credits, sit in on keynotes and panel discussions, network with peers and discuss the direction of the industry. Manufacturers such as Kimball, Kwalu, Integra and Clarus Glassboards showcased innovative products that are enhancing healthcare’s built environment and transforming the healing experience for patients and families, physicians and caregivers. After four days and a sensational blur of conversations, tours and events, attendees left feeling optimistic for the future of healthcare.

Healthcare Design and Contract magazines, in partnership with the Center for Health Design, take time out of the Healthcare Design Expo + Conference to present the winners of the annual Nightingale Awards. Named after Florence Nightingale, these prestigious awards recognize new products and their contribution to the healthcare built environment. Exhibited products are evaluated by a jury panel of seasoned healthcare architects, interior designers and facility members, who then make selections based on functionality, quality, durability, style and aesthetics, and pricing.
The KORE Work Cart by Kimball was honored with a 2018 Nightingale Award for product innovation and excellence in the furniture, clinician support category. Designed by Daniel Korb, the KORE Work Cart is a mobile workstation that provides versatile functionality to both individual and collaborative work. Clinical spaces require furniture pieces like the KORE Work Cart that are able to continuously evolve alongside them, creating a fluid workspace through integrated power, ergonomic adjustments and other customizable features.
